Ask the Wyoming Game and Fish
When will you start stocking fish?
Chances are that if you live next to a water that is regularly stocked with catchable trout, it has already been stocked or will be stocked later this spring. Catchable trout are 8-10 inches long and are generally put in smaller waters where there is fairly heavy fishing pressure. Stockings will continue at various times throughout the spring and summer. However, anglers should realize that most plants involve fingerlings or sub-catchable fish. This means that most waters already have a supply of fish available for anglers. In these waters, the timing of the hatchery truck and your fishing trip has little bearing on immediate fishing success.
