Lake Manitou Ecozone Public Meeting, May 29
A public meeting is to address local citizens’ concerns raised at a Feb. 28 public hearing to amend the Lake Manitou prairie ecozone rule to make it a permanent rule will by held by the Department of Natural Resources and the Lake Manitou Association. The date of the meeting is Thursday, May 29, at the Fulton County Library, 320 W. 7th, Rochester, 6 – 8 p.m.
The ecozone law expired April 30. The Natural Resources Commission did not approve the amendment, so there currently is no ecozone at Lake Manitou.
The meeting is an effort by the DNR to address citizen concerns enough for the Department to pursue a temporary rule re-establishing the ecozone for an additional year while restarting the process to create a permanent rule.
