Action taken due to possible new bullet strikes in the area following the closing of the 200-yeard Range

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today re-closed Tri-Mountain State Park, located in Wallingford and Durham, and the portion of the Mattabesett Trail that runs through it after possible new bullet strikes were found in the area despite the Friday closing of the 200-yard range at Blue Trail Gun Range. The range is in Wallingford on the other side of the Ulbrich Reservoir. The DEP took this action as a precaution while it awaits completion of a Connecticut State Police (CSP) investigation into the nature of the possible new strikes and where that may have originated.

DEP will be meeting with the owners of the Blue Trail Gun Range and CSP to further assess the situation. The park and trail will remain closed until further notice.
