Tin and Coppersmith Guild to Appear at Fort Atkinson SHP June 20-22

Tin and Coppersmith GuildLINCOLN, Neb. — On June 20-22 the Tin and Coppersmithing Guild will hold its annual Convergence at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park (SHP) and the public is invited to attend.

The group assembles annually to practice this ancient trade, and to share information and techniques.

Among the many activities are hand dipping tin plate along with the layout, design and construction of various objects as were used during the 18th and 19th centuries. Lectures and demonstrations will be presented from 9 a.m.-noon and from 1-4 p.m. on June 20-21 and there will be a morning session of June 22.

Fort Atkinson SHP is located 8 miles north of Interstate 680 on U.S. Highway 75, then 7 blocks east on Madison St. in Fort Calhoun. A current Nebraska Park Entry Permit is required and can be purchased at the Harold W. Andersen Visitor Center.
