Hit The Beach and Enjoy the Fireworks This Fourth of July
COLUMBUS, OH – Hear the Kaboom! and Bang! of fireworks this Fourth of July weekend from the comfort of a beach blanket as several Ohio State Parks host Independence Day celebrations.
“We encourage families to come out to our Ohio State Parks this holiday for the many daytime activities and then stay out for the nighttime fireworks displays,” said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks.
Here’s a listing of Fourth of July events at some parks:
“Boat Parade” at Guilford Lake State Park (Columbiana County) – Friday, July 4. Come decorate your watercraft and join in the noontime parade. Prizes will be awarded and spectators are welcome. For information call 330-222-1712.
“Beach Spectacular and Fireworks” at Indian Lake State Park (Logan County) – Saturday, July 5, at Old Field Beach. This daylong celebration features beach games and contests, entertainment, food, classic car displays and fireworks over the lake. For information call 937-843-2717.
“Freedom Festival” at Grand Lake St. Marys State Park (Auglaize/Mercer counties) – Saturday, July 5, at Celina lakeshore. Come enjoy this community festival with a fireworks display in the evening. For information call 419-394-3611.
“Friendly Gatherings” at Portage Lakes State Park (Summit County) includes a sandcastle building contest at Turkeyfoot Beach from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 5. There will also be a fireworks display at dusk.
“Fireworks Extravaganza” at Hueston Woods State Park (Butler/Preble counties) – Sunday, July 6. Enjoy food, activities and entertainment over the weekend with a fireworks display over Acton Lake. For information call 513-523-6347.
Additional community firework displays are taking place on Thursday, July 3 at Buckeye Lake State Park (Fairfield County) and Friday, July 4 at East Harbor State Park (Ottawa County).
