Contest For Free Youth Deer Hunt to Begin Aug. 13
LITTLE ROCK – Beginning Aug. 13, five lucky hunters will be drawn for a special youth deer hunt in southeast Arkansas. The hunt is being sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Mack’s Prairie Wings, Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry and KARK TV.
For the next five weeks, one youth hunter will be drawn each Wednesday during “Wild Wednesday” on KARK from postcards sent to the station. The doe only hunt will be held Oct. 11-12 near DeWitt.
The hunt will be filmed and broadcast Nov. 1 on the popular outdoor show “Talkin’ Outdoors at the Corner Café.” The show airs Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. on KARK Channel 4.
Hunters must be between the ages of 7 and 15 and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a valid hunter safety card. Only youths who have never killed a deer will be eligible. The first deer harvested will be donated to Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry.
Guides will be provided for each hunter, but they must provide their gun and ammunition. The five drawings will begin on Aug. 20 and finish on Sept. 17. Each winner will receive a hunting package courtesy of Mack’s Prairie Wings. On Sept. 24 each of the five winners will be entered in a grand prized drawing for a Mossberg .243 rifle and Bushnell Scope.
To enter, send a postcard to KARK Youth Deer Hunt, 1401 W. Capitol, Suite 104, Little Rock, AR 72201.
