Michigan's Pere Marquette Rail Trail Open for Snowmobile SeasonThe Department of Natural Resources today announced the Pere Marquette Rail-Trail bridge over the Muskegon River, located east of the city of Evart, has reopened.

Initially, the bridge was to be closed until Dec. 31, but the contractor was able to complete the bridge renovations early. The project included bridge abutment work, replacing worn decking, installing an improved guard rail system, and constructing erosion control devices.

This project was funded from a grant provided by the Recreation Trails Program, which is a federal Department of Transportation Highway Administration program. A small portion of the project was funded by the DNR’s snowmobile program.
