Connecticut DEP Encourages Residents to Fulfill New Year’s Resolutions; Buy State Park Season Pass2009 passes now available from DEP

Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Gina McCarthy said today that the 2009 state park season pass is available for purchase either online, by mail or in person.

Commissioner McCarthy said, “Since the holidays are now behind us, it is the time to begin thinking of getting outside with your families and friends to work off those extra pounds. With your state park pass you can start the new year in a healthy way, enjoying the splendor and beauty of all 106 state parks and 32 state forests.”

The 2009 state park pass provides free parking at all state parks that charge a parking fee. Valid for the entire 2009 calendar year, passes cost $50 for state residents and $75 for out-of-state residents. The cost of museum entrance fees is not covered.

Commissioner McCarthy added, “We’ve worked so hard over the past three years promoting the nationally acclaimed No Child Left Inside initiative and want all of you to join in the effort to spend more time outdoors. Whether you enjoy walking in the woods, fishing in a pristine lake or pond, or just spending time bird watching, Connecticut state parks are for everyone. Purchasing a 2009 state park pass makes it easy and convenient for your entire family.”
