Fayette Historic State Park will host the park’s third annual “GO-Get Outdoors” winter activity on Saturday, Jan. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event includes old fashioned kerosene lanterns on the unique Bluff Trail.
Visitors are invited to cross-country ski, snowshoe or hike the trail and enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows around a crackling campfire. The area behind the contact station will be plowed and available for parking. From there a friendly fire will mark the starting point.
“This is a great chance to experience Fayette in a whole new ‘light,’ whether you choose skis, snowshoes or your mukluks — all are welcome. The Bluff Trail will be groomed and track-set for the traditional skier and the other side of the trail will be hard packed for the walker or snowshoe user,” said Park Supervisor Randy Brown.
The modern Furnace Hill Lodge at Fayette State Park is available to rent all year. Rates are Sunday through Thursday, $100 per night; Friday and Saturday $125 per night. Call the park for reservations to reserve the Furnace Hill Lodge for your special winter event.
Fayette Historic State Park is located at 13700 13.25 Lane in Garden. All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the park entrance. Cost is $24 for a resident annual and $6 for a resident daily. A nonresident annual is $29 and a nonresident daily is $8.
