Monthly and seasonal Minnesota state parks campsite reservations due by April 1
Spring is quickly approaching and so is the deadline for campers to reserve their extended-stay monthly or seasonal spot at one of five Minnesota state parks. All reservations must be made before Thursday, April 1.
A lottery will be held April 1 to determine which reservations will be recognized if demand exceeds availability. After that, unreserved sites will still be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The five parks offering this option are Hayes Lake, Old Mill, Lac qui Parle, Myre-Big Island and Upper Sioux Agency.
Monthly and seasonal camping opportunities came about in response to requests from frequent overnight park visitors who wanted to avoid having to haul their camping units back and forth from home to the park, make numerous reservations, or worry about availability. Feedback after the first summer of monthly and seasonal camping was very positive, so several campsites will continue to be available for extended stays.
More information about the outdoor recreation opportunities at each of the state parks is available online. Each of them have different dates and pricing for their monthly and seasonal camping.
