Water Body Report
ATHENS Water lightly stained, 52–63 degrees; 0.8′ low. Black bass are fair to good on tubes, Texas rigged lizards and Rat–L–Traps. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs with a few fish moving towards the creeks. Bream are fair to good on live worms. Catfish are good on live worms and prepared bait.
BASTROP Water clear. Black bass are good on watermelon Rat–L–Traps spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and liver. Yellow catfish are slow.
BELTON Water clear; 56 – 58 degrees; 3.03′ low. Black bass are good on purple/black and navy blue soft plastic worms in coves. Hybrid striper are good trolling Rat–L–Traps. White bass are good on minnows in coves. Crappie are good on minnows under lights at night in coves. Channel and blue catfish are good on summer sausage, Vienna sausage, and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch.
BRIDGEPORT Water fairly clear; 51–60 degrees; 3.9′ low; Black bass are fair on shad pattern crankbaits, Rat–L–Traps and 4″ Yum Dingers. White bass and hybrid striper are fair on slabs and live bait. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait.
CEDAR CREEK Water stained; 53–60 degrees; 2.56′ low. Black bass are fair on medium running shad pattern crankbaits, Texas rigs and drop shot rigs. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair on live shad and large slabs jigged vertically. Crappie are fair to good on minnows. Catfish are fair drifting cut shad.
COOPER Water stained; 52–61 degrees; 7.47′ low; Black bass are fair on Texas rigged blue fleck worms, drop shot rigs and slow–rolled spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair to good on jigs and minnows over brush piles. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair to good on slabs and live shad. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and prepared bait.
FAIRFIELD Fishing has been slow since the fish kill in September of 2010. TPWD is currently stocking the lake. Redfish and black bass survived the kill in limited numbers.
FAYETTE Water clear; 58 degrees. Black bass are fair on chartreuse and pumpkinseed soft plastics and Rat–L–Traps in shallows. Channel and blue catfish are fair on minnows and shrimp.
GIBBONS CREEK Water clear. Black bass are fair on green pumpkin Rat–L–Traps. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on shrimp, nightcrawlers, and stinkbait.
GRANBURY Water clear; 54–60 degrees; 0.31′ low. Black bass are fair on watermelon and pumpkinseed soft plastics and shallow running crankbaits. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are good on shrimp and nightcrawlers.
GRAPEVINE Water stained; 50–62 degrees; 1.17′ low. Black bass are fair on jigs, Texas rigs, crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait and nightcrawlers.
JOE POOL Water off color; 52–62 degrees; 0.2′ high. Black bass are fair on Texas rigs, spinnerbaits and wacky rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs over brush piles. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and prepared baits.
LAVON Water stained; 51–60 degrees; 4.82′ low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigs, spinnerbaits and shallow slow–running crankbaits. White bass are good on slabs. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around bridge columns. Catfish are fair to good on cut shad and nightcrawlers.
LEWISVILLE Water stained; 53–62 degrees; 0.6′ low. Black bass are fair on slow–rolled spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, Texas rigs and Carolina rigs. White bass and hybrid striper are fair to good on slabs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on cut shad and prepared baits.
NAVARRO MILLS Water stained; 53–58 degrees; 0.19′ high. Black bass to 2 pounds are fair on minnows and crappie jigs at the marina. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue/white jigs with crappie nibbles at the marina in 6 feet. Blue catfish are good on juglines baited with shad. Channel catfish are good on stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.
PALESTINE Water lightly stained; 53–61 degrees; 1.48′ low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigs, jigs and crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on prepared bait. Bream are fair on worms. Hybrid striper and white bass are good on slabs and Sassy Shad worked near the bottom.
PROCTOR Water stained; 53–59 degrees; 6.02′ low. Black bass are fair on watermelon soft plastic worms with chartreuse tails. Striped bass are fair on minnows. White bass are fair on minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows in 10 – 16 feet. Channel and blue catfish are fair on juglines baited with shad and perch. Yellow catfish are slow.
RAY HUBBARD Water fairly clear; 52–61 degrees; 2.83′ low. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and Texas– or Carolina–rigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on small Bass Assassins. Hybrid striper are good on 4″ Bass Assassins. Catfish are fair to good on cut shad and nightcrawlers.
RAY ROBERTS Water clear; 55–60 degrees; 1.23′ low. Black bass are fair on red Rat–L–Traps and suspending jerk baits around secondary points with rock – also on Texas rigged black neon or watermelon/red creature baits flipped to shallow trees in ditches. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs in standing timber in 12–20 feet. White bass are good near the main river channel in 35 feet on chartreuse/white 1oz. slabs. No reports on catfish.
RICHLAND CHAMBERS Water off color; 54–60 degrees; 1.94′ low. Black bass are fair on medium running shad pattern crankbaits, Texas rigs and spinnerbaits. White bass and hybrid striper are good on slabs, Bass Assassins and live shad. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers and cut shad.
SOMERVILLE Water murky; 54–59 degrees; 1.91′ low. Black bass are fair on small Rat–L–Traps and shallow running crankbaits. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are fair on live bait. Yellow catfish are slow.
STILLHOUSE Water stained; 55–60 degrees; 0.13′ high. Black bass are fair on minnows and spinnerbaits. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.
TAWAKONI Water fairly clear; 55–61 degrees; 3′ low. Black bass are fair on red Rat–L–Traps, spinnerbaits, jigs and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are good – follow the birds. Striped bass and hybrid striper are excellent on 4″ Bass Assassins dead–sticked with a 1 oz. jighead. Catfish are fair on prepared bait.
TEXOMA Water off color; 51–62 degrees; 0.85′ low. Black bass are fair on chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Striped bass are good on live shad and large Road Runners over humps. Catfish are fair to good on cut and live shad.
WEATHERFORD Water lightly stained; 53–62 degrees; 3.11′ low. Black bass are fair on Rat–L–Traps, Texas rigs, chatterbaits and wacky rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs in the crappie house. White bass are fair to good on slabs and Sassy Shad. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and cheese bait.
WHITNEY Water stained; 9.68′ low. Black bass are good on watermelon and June bug Rat–L–Traps. Striped bass are fair on minnows and green striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows and green striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Catfish are fair on shrimp and stinkbait.
