DELAWARE CITY (March 9, 2011) – Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups are invited to enjoy a brand-new Fort Delaware experience with an overnight camping program.

Groups of up to 50 adults and children will board the Three Forts Ferry in Delaware City in late afternoon to begin their adventure. Once on Pea Patch Island, groups will take a candlelight historical or ghost tour of the Fort with a park interpreter, and will have the option to cook their evening meal over an open fire.  Each group may choose to sleep either in the Prisoners’ Barracks or primitive tent camping on the island.

The return trip to Delaware City will be mid-morning on the following day.  Depending upon availability, a group may arrange to return later in the day.  The program fee is $35 per person.  Available dates are April 29, May 6 and 20, June 18 and 25, July 22 and 30, Aug. 6 and 20, and Sept. 4, 9 and 23.

Arrangements may be made by calling the Park Office at 302-834-7941.  Some restrictions may apply.  Fort Delaware State Park is accessible only by ferry. Participants should arrive 30 minutes prior to boat departure to check in at the Fort Delaware dock, 45 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, 19706.  More information about Fort Delaware is available by calling 302-834-7941 or visiting www.destateparks.com.
