Turkey hunting workshop aimed at women

The Witt Stephens Jr., Central Arkansas Nature Center in downtown Little Rock is hosting a free Discover Turkey Hunting workshop on Tuesday, March 26. Topics to be covered in the workshop are turkey seasons, regulations, habitat, scouting, hunting techniques, equipment and how to use a turkey call.

The workshop will be from 6 to 9 p.m. and is a part of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s popular Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) program. The number of women choosing to take up the sport of hunting is on a steady increase, however opportunities for them to obtain new hunting skills are often hard to find. The goal of the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program is provide a non-threatening atmosphere where women can have fun learning skills that will enhance their enjoyment of Arkansas’ outdoors. This BOW basics class is a great way to learn about turkey hunting and get more information on the weekend-long event coming up in September.
Seating is limited for the workshop, and advance registration is needed by phoning 501-907-0636. Bring a friend if you want, but don’t worry about coming alone. You’ll quickly make some new friends with the same turkey hunting interests you have.
