AUSTIN – On Saturday, Sept. 26, volunteers around Texas and the nation will visit their favorite parks, beaches, wildlife preserves, or forests and help improve these treasured places by celebrating National Public Lands Day.

Texas State Parks to Host National Public Lands Day Events

National Public Lands Day, the largest volunteer day for public lands in our country, brings together volunteers from coast to coast to improve and restore the lands and facilities that Americans use for recreation, education, exercise.

Last year, more than 175,000 Americans participated at more than 2,100 sites in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

NEEF (the National Environmental Education Foundation) coordinates National Public Lands Day every year. Seven federal agencies will participate along with more than 250 state, county, and city partners and a host of nonprofit groups, including the Student Conservation Association, Outdoor Nation, The Corps Network, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA. Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. is the event’s national corporate sponsor for the 17th consecutive year.
