Ladies: Learn to Hunt, Shoot and Fish
Registration is underway for the next Alabama Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshop March 4-6, 2016. During the three-day workshop, which is for women ages 18 and older, participants can learn to shoot different types of firearms as well as get exposure to fishing, hunting, archery, outdoor cooking and much more.
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) sponsors the workshop, which takes place at the 4-H Center near Columbiana, Alabama, in Shelby County.
According to BOW workshop coordinator Marisa Futral, the classes offer basic skills training in a non-threatening environment. “There are many ladies who have not been exposed to these outdoor activities and they are apprehensive about trying them. This workshop is ideal for those women because everything is taught at a beginner level and they are with other ladies who are new to these activities as well.”
The registration fee of $225 covers meals, dormitory-style lodging, program materials and instruction for four classes. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Enrollment is limited to 130 applicants, and classes fill up fast.
