State Parks Announces Eighth Day Escape Adventure Series and Contest

The Eighth Day Escape adventure series and contest will highlight park nature, recreational opportunities and offer tips for planning a visit to an Alabama state park. Park naturalist Emily Vanderford will be your guide on the adventure series. Join Emily as she shares her state park adventures through the Parks Explorer column on alapark.com.

In addition to the monthly column, the public is invited to visit a state park and share their adventures through the Eighth Day Escape contest. To enter the contest, simply email a completed entry form along with a photo to Parks [dot] Explorer [at] dcnr [dot] alabama [dot] gov. Prize drawings will be held on the eighth day of each month. Contest participants will automatically earn a chance to win a grand prize valued at more than $500 on January 8, 2017.
Eighth Day Escape contestants are also encouraged to share their photos with Alabama State Parks on social media. The photos can be posted directly to the Alabama State Parks Division Facebook page, tweeted to @ALStateParks, or tagged with @alstateparks on Instagram. When posting your photos please include where the images were taken and use the hashtag #EighthDayEscape.
One winner will be randomly selected each month to receive a custom prize pack consisting of items related to the park(s) highlighted in that month’s Eighth Day Escape column. Meaher State Park and the Mobile-Tensaw Delta are featured in the January 2016 edition of the adventure series. The February 8 prize pack includes a $50 Felix’s Fish Camp gift card, $35 BLUEGILL Restaurant gift card, a matted photo from 5 Rivers Cypress Gift Shop, and a discount voucher for overnight accommodations at Meaher State Park.
