Outdoor Cooking Workshop Offered at Pisgah Center in N.C. on Nov. 19
BREVARD, N.C. (Nov. 8, 2016) – Learn how to prepare delicious meals over an outdoor fire at an “Outdoor Cooking” workshop, being held at the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education on Nov. 19.
The workshop, which is free, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to participants 12 and older. Participants will learn how to prepare an entire meal, including dessert, over an open wood fire or charcoal briquettes using a traditional Dutch oven. They also will learn other novelty methods of cooking in an outdoor setting.
“Participants always have a great time at our Outdoor Cooking workshops,” said Lee Sherrill, Program Coordinator at the Pisgah Center. “The ingredients are simple and the recipes are easy to follow so that they can take what they learn at the workshop and apply it during their next camping trip and best of all participants get to eat what they prepare.”
Sherrill recommends participants bring their own lawn chair.

The Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education is located near Brevard, just south of Asheville, by the Davidson River in Transylvania County. The center features nature trails and five large aquariums representing aquatic mountain habitats. The center is adjacent to the Bobby N. Setzer State Fish Hatchery, where trout are raised in 54 raceways. The center is open Monday through Saturday from April through November and Monday through Friday from December through March. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
