Swimming Area at Gay City State Park Reopened

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today reopened the swimming area at Gay City State Park in Hebron. The swimming area had been closed since Thursday, May 28, 2003 after samples collected by DEP staff showed elevated levels of indicator bacteria. The swimming area was resampled on Tuesday, June 3, 2003, as part of DEP’s weekly water quality testing program.

The swimming areas at Kettletown State Park in Southbury and Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford remain closed. These two state swimming areas were resampled this morning and results are expected tomorrow afternoon.
