New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife

Hunter Education Course Locations and Schedule

The final component of a Hunter Education Home Study Course is the field session and exam. Hunter Education field sessions and course exams will be offered at eight locations throughout New Jersey.

Students must complete the Home Study materials prior to attending a field session. Students are encouraged to complete a practice exam prior to attending a field session. Upon completing the material, students should select the location and date that best fits their schedule and register with the online registration form or by calling 856-629-0552 or 877-2-HUNT-NJ (toll-free).

Field sessions/exams are held for all three disciplines - Basic Firearm, Archery and Muzzloader/Rifle. Sessions are held rain or shine, and participants should come prepared for the weather and to be outdoors for at least 4 hours (depending on the number of disciplines they wish to complete - students can take all three if prepared to do so).

Students are required to arrive at the session location between 8am and 9am with their completed workbook. Anyone arriving after 9am or without a completed workbook will not be admitted to the session.

Courses are held every weekend (excluding July and holiday weekends) at at least one location through September (more classes may be added if necessary). Materials are available at specified license agents and Division offices, or through the mail.

The August - November schedule of field session/exams is posted below. Directions are given below and are available at locations with the course materials.
