Fishing, Hunting, Kayaking – the 2003 Outdoor Recreation Expo Has It All
Fishing, hunting, hiking, kayaking, camping and even live wildlife – the 2003 Outdoor Recreation Exposition has it all.

Join the Arizona Game and Fish Department and Jim and Darla Solomon of Outdoors Arizona for the second annual fall exposition that runs Friday through Sunday, Sept. 5-7, at the Phoenix Civic Plaza. Expo hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, then 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults. Children under 12 get in free.

“This really is the ultimate experience for outdoor enthusiasts,” says Darla Solomon. “It is also a super way to kick off a great time of year in our state,” adds Jim Solomon, who has already started his hunting season with dove.

There are more than 200 participants in this year’s show including outdoor retailers, agencies, organizations, adventure guides and local experts. “There will be items representing everything from archery to water skiing,” says Jim Solomon.

Additions to this year’s program include “Experience Archery,” a free archery shooting exhibit and a wave box with a kayak rodeo and discover scuba diving. There will also be watercraft displays, repelling demonstrations, wildlife exhibits, camping equipment, GPS and orienteering seminars, rock climbing, the Xtreme Campsite, inflatable planetarium, wilderness survival tactics, maps, fishing and hunting.

The Game and Fish Department’s Wildlife Center at Adobe Mountain will have live animals on display. There will be a fish hatchery truck filled with fish and a fish survey boat on display. Don’t forget to bring the camera. You’ll want to capture the big moment when the kids catch a live channel catfish at our indoor fish tank.
