FORT ATKINSON SHP LIVING HISTORY WEEKEND SET FOR SEPT. 6-7
Ft. Calhoun, Neb. – Take a step back into history Sept. 6-7 at Fort
Atkinson State Historical Park when the reconstructed 1820’s fort comes to
life with the sights and sounds of a military garrison.
Volunteer interpreters will portray soldiers, laundresses, coopers,
spinners, and weavers, and will re-enact a pay call on both days.
Activities will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude with the lowering of colors
at 5 p.m.
Fort Atkinson Shp is located seven blocks east of Highway 75 in Fort
Calhoun. Admission is free, but a valid Nebraska State Parks Permit is
required on all vehicles entering the park and may be purchased at the
Harold Andersen Visitor Center. For further information contact the park
