Bear license opportunity available

September 5, 2003

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today announced some of the successful applicants in the 2003 bear drawing have generously offered to transfer their license to a youth hunter or person with an advanced illness.

To be eligible to receive a transferred license, a youth applicant must be between ages 12-16 years or an adult applicant must have a written statement of advanced illness from a physician.

Opportunities are limited and available through a first-come, first-served basis. In some units, the bear season begins as early as Sept. 10.

Those interested should call the DNR at 517-373-3904.
