Volunteers Needed for the Great Kanawha River Cleanup Saturday, September 13, 2003


  The Fourteenth Annual Great Kanawha River Cleanup will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2003 , with the rain date being Saturday, September 20, 2003 . The rain date will only be used in the event of serious weather conditions such as lightning or high winds.


  The Great Kanawha River Cleanup is coordinated by the Great Kanawha River Cleanup Committee, a non-profit organization. It is co-sponsored by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, local governments along the river and businesses such as American Electric Power, Princess Beverly Coal Company and Toyota .


  Volunteers are urged to wear long pants, hard soled shoes and work gloves. Children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by a parent or adult. To volunteer, please contact Chris Cartwright at 1-800-322-5530 or by email at .
