Morning on the Marsh camp out at Sandhill
BABCOCK, Wis. -- The Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center will sponsor its ever popular Morning on the Marsh campout on October 4 and 5. Participants should plan to arrive by 2 pm on Saturday and depart by 11 am Sunday.
Participants will get a close up and personal view of thousands of sandhill cranes, geese and other waterfowl that utilize the expansive Gallegher Marsh complex in Sandhill Wildlife Area. Join Skills Center hosts at this camp out and listen to the marsh sounds throughout the night. Participants are asked to provide their own sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and warm, dry clothing and foot gear. Bring binoculars, cameras and tents if you have them! The Skills Center can provide binoculars, tents and associated camping gear upon request. The Skills Center will provide Saturday supper and Sunday lunch.
Registration is limited to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis and is confirmed by mailing in a registration fee of $25 per person by Sept. 24. Checks should be made out to DNR-Skills Center. Include the name of each participant, and the address and daytime phone number of one person in each party. The Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center is located 20 miles west of Wisconsin Rapids on County Highway X, 1 mile north of Highway 80 near Babcock, Wisconsin on the 9,000 acre Department of Natural Resources Sandhill Wildlife Area.
