The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries rolled out a new licensing system for the state's recreational hunting and fishing license vendors on September 1. It has come to the attention of the department that some applicants are having difficulties obtaining a license in a timely fashion from certain locations.
LDWF has acknowledged minor defects in the new system. These issues are being addressed with the new license contractor,, Inc. GreatLodge (the low bidder) was awarded the new contract when the previous contract expired. They were one of two bidders, both from out of state.

More than 300 large retail and sporting goods stores across the state are operating with little or no problems at all. However, LDWF would like to remind hunters and anglers that should they encounter a problem with the new system, other avenues are available for purchasing a license. All licenses may be purchased over the phone with Visa or Mastercard by calling 1-888-765 2602. Those interested may also purchase licenses over the internet by logging onto:  A link to this site may be found on the LDWF website at and clicking on the "Hunting and Fishing License Information and On-line Sales" link. Licenses may also be bought at the LDWF Headquarters office in Baton Rouge, or the LDWF office in New Orleans.

LDWF regrets any distress these minor problems may have caused to the state's hunters and fishers. The department is looking forward to resolving all of the problems with the system in a timely fashion.
