SANTA FE, N.M. - Special youth hunts, which provide unique opportunities for youngsters to hunt big and small game in New Mexico, are featured in the fall New Mexico Wildlife Magazine, to be distributed beginning Sept. 23 in 32 newspapers statewide.

The historical series celebrating 100 years of wildlife conservation in New Mexico continues with a look at the sportsmen's battle with politicians over wildlife management in the 50s and 60s. Other topics include tips on shotgun shooting.

A new Wildlife License Plate will go on sale next month and provide much-needed funding for species in need, while a rare, feisty little bird of boggy realms gets some unlikely habitat help from alien swamp dwellers.

New Mexico Wildlife is distributed as follows:

Sept. 23: Albuquerque Journal, Albuquerque Tribune;

Sept. 24: Ruidoso News, Socorro El Defensor Chieftain, Quay County Sun, Union County Leader, Sierra County Sentinel (T or C), Valencia County News Bulletin;

Sept. 25: Clovis News Journal, DeBaca County News, Farmington Daily Times, Gallup Independent, Portales News-Tribune, Rio Rancho Observer, Santa Fe New Mexican, Sangre de Cristo Chronicle, Rio Grande Sun, Taos News;
