Pennsylvania junior hunting license holders age 12-15 will be provided with a special day of waterfowl hunting on Saturday, Sept. 27, according to Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Vern Ross.

"As this year's special youth waterfowl hunt falls outside of the rest of the established waterfowl seasons, adults accompanying juniors may not carry a firearm; however, adults may call for the junior hunters, assist in duck identification and other aspects of the hunt," Ross said.

Ross noted that federal regulations require all hunters age 16 and older to purchase a federal Duck Stamp, so the special youth waterfowl hunt is for holders of junior licenses age 12-15 years. The daily limit for the Youth Waterfowl day will be consistent with the limit for the regular season:

CANADA GEESE: South Atlantic Population Zone, two; North Atlantic Population Zone, two; Resident Population Zone, five; Pymatuning Zone, one; Southern James Bay Population Zone, five. ALL DUCKS (All Zones): six, which may not include: more than four mallards, including two hens; one black duck; one pintail; one mottled duck; one fulvous tree duck; two wood ducks; two redheads; one canvasback; four scoters; and three scaup. MERGANSERS (All Zones): five; but not more than one hooded merganser. COOTS (All Zones): 15. ATLANTIC BRANT (All Zones): three. SNOW GEESE (All Zones): 15.
