Emergency fire rules suspended
Burning permits will again be issued
MADISON -- Rainfall across much of the state over the past four days has reduced forest fire risk enough to allow officials to cancel an emergency burning ban issued for parts of Jackson, Clark and Eau Claire counties on Sept 4.
The ban made it illegal to set a campfires outside developed camping areas, smoke outdoors , use a burn barrel or throw matches, ashes or burning material from a vehicle.
All temporary restrictions on issuing burning permits in other areas of the state have also been lifted. Fire control officials are still urging caution in all use of outdoor fire noting that the recent precipitation events have reduced immediate danger levels but much of Wisconsin is still significantly below normal precipitation levels.
