WHITE LAKE LOTTERY HUNT APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is accepting
applications for two separate types of lottery waterfowl hunts on White
Lake Preserve. Marsh hunts and rice field hunts will be held on the
preserve with participants being selected by lottery.
Applications for both hunts must be received in Room 461 of the Department
of Wildlife and Fisheries Building by close of business on October 6. The
mailing address is: Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Attention: White
Lake Marsh/Rice Field Hunt at P.O. Box 98000, Baton Rouge, Louisiana,
70898. A $5 administration fee in the form of a check or money order
payable to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries must
accompany each application. All applicants must be 18 years of age or
older and a correct social security number must be included on the
Interested persons may submit up to two applications for the season. The
hunts will be held on November 24, November 29, December 27 and December
28. The selected hunters will hunt as a group with a guide and will be
required to adhere to the list of rules that accompanies the lottery
application. The marsh hunts will begin promptly at 5:00 a.m. and will end
no later than 9:00 a.m. Successful applicants will be notified by mail and
required to submit a check or money order in the amount of $300 to White
Lake Preservation, Inc., 710 West Prien Lake Road, Suite 202A, Lake
Charles, Louisiana, 70601.
For the rice field hunts, up to five applications may be submitted per
hunter for the season. The rice field hunts are scheduled for November 8,
9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23, 25, 30, December 13, 14, 16, 18, 20,
21, 23, 30, January 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 18. Blinds and
decoys will be provided for the hunters, however, no guides will be
provided. The selected participants must arrive at the designated site by
5:15 a.m. The hunt will end no later than 9:30 a.m.
