WILDLIFE AGENTS NAB PURSE SNATCHER
Enforcement agents from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries
sometimes make arrests for offenses other than wildlife and fish
violations. On September 5, they nabbed Willie Byone, 21, of Oakdale for
purse snatching, vehicular trespass, resisting an officer and possession
While patrolling in Oakdale in Allen Parish, Senior Agent Scott Fontenot
and Agent Steven Vidrine saw a man hanging on the drivers side door of a
van traveling on La. Highway 10. The man jumped off when the door swung
open, and ran away carrying a purse. The agents pursued him several blocks
and through several back yards, finally tackling and arresting him.
Oakdale Police Department officers and Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office
deputies responded to the scene, and Byone was booked into the Oakdale
City Jail. The case will be referred to the Allen Parish District
Attorney's Office for prosecution.
