Have you seen it yet? The Water Works Wonders Boating and Fishing Experience is cruising across America, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD). This interactive experience is making appearances at only 25 stops throughout the country and will be at the North Georgia State Fair in Marietta from Sept. 26-28. The mobile tour consists of a 48-foot semi-trailer that incorporates a number of interactive features describing boating, fishing and aquatic stewardship to young and old alike. The campaign, developed by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF), delivers the message that time spent fishing and boating on the water will help reconnect family members and bring them even closer.
“The Boating and Fishing Experience will arrive in Georgia just in
time for National Hunting and Fishing Day which is when we recognize all
hunters and anglers for their contributions to wildlife,” says WRD Chief
of Fisheries Management Chuck Coomer. “We feel that this is a very
appropriate time to remind people about the connections that can be made
when out on the water.”
The Water Works Wonders Boating and Fishing Experience has a Boats
section where participants can board boats or try casting a line under the
instruction of expert anglers. The Kids Zone is an interactive area where
kids can learn how to put a hook on a line and other educational
activities. Adults can experience catching a marlin or other big game
fish and can sign up to try and win a houseboat vacation at Forever
Resorts. WRD will participate in this special event by having
Conservation Rangers and Fisheries Biologists on hand to answer questions
from the public about boating and fishing in Georgia.
In addition to RBFF, other sponsors for this traveling display
include: Boater’s World, Discover Boating, Bayliner, Yamaha, boats.com,
Hunter and Mainship, Sail America, Forever Resorts, Polaris, Humminbird,
Attwood Marine, Okuma America, Tracker Marine, Plano Molding Company and
Engineered Plastic Systems, LLC. The National Marine Manufacturer’s
Association (NMMA) is coordinating the tour.
