Great Kanawha River Cleanup Volunteers  Do Their Part to Make WV Shine


  The Fourteenth Annual Great Kanawha River Cleanup was held Saturday, September 13, in Fayette, Kanawha and Putnam Counties . In just four hours, 89 volunteers removed an estimated 20,000 pounds of litter and debris and 28 tires from the Kanawha River and its banks.


  Students from the University of Charleston , Winfield High School , Poca High School , St. Albans High School , Capital High School , Charleston Catholic High School , and Gauley Bridge High School participated. The Winfield High School students will receive a pizza party for having the largest group of cleanup participants from a high school.
