Grant request for Town of Monches Sports Park

Milwaukee , Wis. – The Town of Merton has requested matching grant assistance from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund program, administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. If awarded, the Town will receive $14,000 to provide outdoor recreation area improvements at the Town’s Monches Sports Park site, located on CTH E.

Currently, the Town of Merton leases the 10-acre Monches Park site from Waukesha County. Proposed development includes parking lot paving, picnic facilities, including a park shelter, and landscaping.

This type of outdoor recreation improvements project typically does not have the potential to cause significant adverse environmental impacts; therefore, the Department has made a preliminary determination that an environmental analysis will not be required for this potential grant project.

Information regarding the Department’s grant determination can be reviewed at the DNR Milwaukee office, 2300 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Contact Tom Blotz at (414) 263-8610 or Gene Park at (414) 263-8676. Comments on the proposed grant project are welcome and should be submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2003.
