Nonresident Deer and Elk Tags Available

Idaho still has nonresident deer and elk tags available for 2003. There are deer tags which can be used in the Clearwater Region, statewide tags, and even a few for the Southeast Region. Licenses and tags can be bought on the Fish and Game Website at www2.state.id.us/fishgame, over the phone at 1-800-554-8685, or over the counter at more than 400 license vendors statewide.

There are elk tags available for most units statewide. The nonresident elk tags in units with quotas have sold out except for the Middle Fork A tag.

Success rates in general rifle seasons for elk last year ran as high as 49 percent, with a good number of elk units producing in the 25-35 percent range. The statewide average for success in general rifle deer hunts was 33 percent. To check out which units had the best harvest rates, go to the Fish and Game website at this location: http://www2.state.id.us/fishgame/

A nonresident deer tag is $235. Nonresident price for an elk tag is $338.50. The regular hunting license fee is $128.50. Prices for Nonresident Junior Mentored license and elk tag are $6.50 and $15, respectively. The Nonresident Junior Mentored deer tag is $9.75. Junior Mentored licenses and tags are available to nonresident youth age 12-17, who must hunt with an adult who has a valid Idaho hunting license.

Grab your gun and your kids and come to Idaho for the hunt of a lifetime!
And Idahoans, remember you can now buy a nonresident deer or elk tag, at the regular nonresident price, to use as a second tag!
