SMALL GRANTS FOR BIRD CONSERVATION PLANNING OFFERED - Tom Keith
Grand Island, Neb. -- The Nebraska Partnership for All Bird Conservation, a
coalition made up of nearly two dozen organizations interested in bird
conservation, is making small grants available to organizations and
communities interested in bird conservation planning, according to Mark
Humpert, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commissions wildlife diversity program
manager.
Humpert said the small grants are being made possible through a grant
received earlier this year from the Nebraska Environmental Trust.
The purpose of the grants is to assist in the grassroots development of
strategic plans that address habitat issues within landscapes important to
birds. Grant funds can be used to hire professionals experienced in bringing
diverse audiences of citizens, agency staff, and other participants together
for strategic planning sessions.
Humpert said interested parties should contact Steve Moran, Rainwater Basin
Joint Venture coordinator at 308-382-8112 to find out how to apply. The
deadline for grant proposals is October 22, 2004. To find out more about the
