HUNTING, FISHING, PARK ENTRY PERMITS ARE PERFECT HOLIDAY GIFTS - Tom Keith

Lincoln, Neb. -- The outdoor enthusiast on your holiday gift list will appreciate receiving a Nebraska hunting, fishing, or park entry permit, which will allow them to participate in their favorite activities in 2005.

In addition to being very necessary, the permits are also inexpensive gifts. The 2005 Nebraska resident hunting permit costs only $12, the habitat stamp is $13, the fishing permit is $16, the aquatic habitat stamp is $5, and the annual park entry permit is $17.35.

An even more thoughtful gift is a Nebraska Lifetime Hunting or Fishing Permit. Lifetime permits are issued only by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commissions headquarters in Lincoln. Lifetime permit prices are: fishing only, $300; hunting only, $260; and combination fish/hunt, $520. The lifetime Nebraska Habitat Stamp is only $260.

The purchase of a lifetime fishing, hunting or combination permit can savea lot of money in the long run, especially considering possible future permit cost increases. It also saves the holder the obligation of remembering to buy a new license each year. Once someone has a lifetime permit, all that person has to purchase each year are the specific stamps needed to pursue certain fish or game.

Only Nebraska residents are eligible to receive lifetime permits, but once issued, permits are valid for the life of the holder, regardless of where the holder lives.
