Frankfort, KY – Outdoor enthusiasts in Northern Kentucky finally have a Saturday morning hunting and fishing show to call their own. “Kentucky Afield” premieres April 1 on Insight Cable 5. The show will air at 10 a.m. each Saturday. Insight has nearly 100,000 subscribers in Kenton, Campbell, Boone, Gallatin, Grant and Pendleton counties.

Each week, “Kentucky Afield” Host Tim Farmer and the rest of the television show crew will bring viewers exciting adventures involving the state’s great outdoors. The first show will feature a segment on elk hunting in Kentucky. “People who enjoy the outdoors will enjoy this show,” said Executive Producer Scott Moore.

Moore noted that the other outdoor shows airing on Saturday morning mainly involve hunting and fishing in other states. “Kentucky Afield” focuses solely on Kentucky and the opportunities the state presents. The show will continue to air Saturday evening and Sunday afternoons on KET affiliates.

“Not everyone can be in front of their television on a Saturday evening,” Moore explained. “We feel at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, not everyone has started their busy day. We see this as another outlet to reach more people.”

“Kentucky Afield” is a production of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. It is the longest continuously running outdoor television show in the nation. “Kentucky Afield” also airs Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time/7:30 p.m. Central time on KET affiliates. The airtime for the Sunday repeat of the show is 4 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central.

“Kentucky Afield” television is a companion program to Kentucky Afield magazine. To learn more about Kentucky’s great outdoors and the state’s hunting and fishing opportunities, subscribe to Kentucky Afield magazine online at fw.ky.gov.
