With the start of the Pennsylvania
bass
season on Father’s Day weekend, there’s no better time to get dear old
dad out on the water. If great fishing and spending quality time with
family wasn’t enough of a lure, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat
Commission (PFBC) has something else to reel you in: the chance to land
a deluxe fishing package.Beginning today and running through June 17,
visitors to the PFBC web site at www.fishandboat.com can
spot the “Father’s Day Fish” and enter to win a deluxe fishing
package. Fourteen prize winners will each be rewarded with a pair of rod
and reel combos, lures and accessories valued at $110. The fishing
packages are provided courtesy of Dick’s Sporting Goods.
For those needing a little guidance to find the Father’s Day Fish,
here’s a hint to help you track down the elusive quarry online: peruse
Pennsylvania lakes.
While logged on to www.fishandboat.com, be sure to check out the “County
Guides” feature. On these pages, the PFBC has compiled helpful
information for finding great fishing near you. With 83,000 miles of
flowing water, more than 4,000 lakes and ponds and one Great Lake in
Erie, finding a place to wet a line is closer than you may think.
Getting a fishing license (required for anglers 16 and older) is
convenient too. Web users can
purchase a license on
the PFBC web site and print it out instantly. Licenses are also
available at
bait
and tackle shops, in the sporting goods section of department stores and
from most county treasurers.
In addition to shining a spotlight on bass season, the promotion is
also timed to encompass National Fishing and Boating Week, June 3-11.
