Outdoor Skills Youth Workshop Offered in Loveland
Young people from eight to 17 years of age are
invited to attend a free outdoor skills workshop May 10, from 8:45 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. at Lon Hagler State Wildlife Area in Loveland. The workshop,
which requires pre-registration by May 5th, will teach kids archery,
shooting skills and safety, and fly fishing.
Experienced instructors will be on hand to teach youth how to set up
fishing poles, cast, and tie a fly. Participants will be able to
practice their casting skills for trout in Lon Hagler Reservoir.
Division of Wildlife (DOW) officers and experienced sportsmen will teach
kids about gun safety and marksmanship, and instruct them as they practice
their shooting using the DOW’s laser shot system. The Big Thompson
Bowhunters will show youths how to shoot a recurve bow. Each session will
last 90 minutes.

refundable deposit of $5, and each participant needs to bring a sack
lunch, water bottle and be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old.
The outdoor skills workshop is sponsored by the Colorado Division of
Wildlife.
The Colorado Division of Wildlife is the state agency responsible for
managing wildlife and its habitat, as well as providing wildlife related
recreation. The Division is funded through hunting and fishing license
fees, federal grants and Colorado Lottery proceeds through Great Outdoors
Colorado.
