Tahquamenon Falls State Park Hosts Smokey Bear Day on Aug. 2Tahquamenon Falls State Park is hosting its annual Smokey Bear Day on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lower Falls Day-Use Area. Representatives from the Department of Natural Resources’ Forest, Mineral and Fire Management Division will be on hand discussing fire prevention, last year’s Sleeper Lake Fire and display DNR firefighting equipment. DNR’s Fisheries Division will be on-hand with their survey equipment and examples of live aquatic insects from the Tahquamenon River. Smokey Bear will be making appearances throughout the day. Join Smokey in learning how you can prevent forest fires and become a steward of Michigan’s forests.

Make the weekend complete by camping at the Lower Falls or the Rivermouth campgrounds. Campsites are available for $19 to $26 per night. All motor vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must display a Motor Vehicle Permit, available for purchase at the park entrance. Cost is $24 for a resident annual and $6 for a resident daily. A nonresident annual is $29 and a nonresident daily is $8.
