Mountains Area
Lake Jocassee:

Trout: Very good. Nice catches of large rainbow trout are being reported trolling in 50 - 70 feet of water using trolling spoons or large plugs; also pull large live shiners in the same zone.
Largemouth and Redeye Bass: Excellent. Fish have finished spawning but are still up against the banks. The hot lure remains dark swamp crawler green pumpkin Zoom worms.
Smallmouth Bass: Excellent. Fish Texas rigged worms around rocky points and shallows.

Lake Keowee:

Largemouth Bass: Good. Fish Carolina rigged worms in watermelon, chartreuse, and pumpkin seed colors around islands and boat docks. Around the North end of the lake Lake Fork swimbaits in magic shad, blue back herring, and pearl white are producing good numbers of fish slow rolling around points and coves.
Spotted Bass: Very good. Spots are biting very well on shallow running crankbaits fished in 18 to 25 feet of water. Fish the upper part of the lake around Mile Creek and High Falls.
Crappie: Good. Crappie have moved out to 20-25 feet of water and can be caught fishing up against bridge pilings at night.

Lake Hartwell:

Striped and Hybrid Bass: Good. From 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. lots of fish are breaking water all over the Seneca, but many of them are short. Later on large schools of fish are being marked from 30 to 35 feet, but enticing them to bite is difficult.
Largemouth Bass: Very good. Some bass are still shallow and being caught on spinnerbaits. In deeper water many anglers are targeting bass fishing large worms like the Zoom Mag 2 in Tequila Sunrise, black and green pumpkinseed colors. Later in the day many people are Carolina rigging around points.
Bream: Good. Bream have moved into very shallow water and are feeding aggressively.

Piedmont Area
Lake Russell:

Largemouth and Spotted Bass: Fair. Try Carolina Rigging or fishing finesse worms in 10 to 15 feet of water. Green pumpkinseed and purple worms are good choices, as is watermelon color.
Catfish: Good, using cut bait and nightcrawlers along the bottom.
Bream and shellcracker: Good. Fish have already moved into shallow water.

Lake Thurmond:

Striped and Hybrid Bass: Very good. Striper fishing in 45 feet of water under the 378 bridge is very strong using live herring.
Largemouth Bass: Good. Early in the morning bass are being caught around secondary points using Zara Spooks.
Crappie: Good. Look for brush in 20 to 25 feet of water; minnows are producing better than jigs.
Shellcracker: Excellent. Target shellcracker using red worms, pink worms, and crickets.

Lake Wylie:

Largemouth Bass: Fair. After 10 a.m. or so move deeper and fish the drops using Carolina rigs with an extra long leader- a strong color is watermelon seed dipped in chartreuse glow dye. Finesse worms in cotton candy, kudzu and green worked very slowly are also productive.
White Perch: Fair. Fish in 18-24 feet of water next to river channels and look for sandy bottoms. Use a minnow or small spoon lowered to the bottom and then bumped slowly.
Shellcracker: Very good. Fish deep drops using red worms fished on a dead line.
Catfish: Very good. Anglers are catching large numbers of catfish fishing with mussels, shrimp, and stinkbaits.

Midlands Area
Lake Greenwood:

Largemouth Bass: Fair. Early, late and nights are the most productive times to fish for bass right now. Use floating worms around rock piles, brushpiles and drop-offs along the bank.
Crappie: Slow. Crappie have moved out over deep brush piles.
Bream and Shellcracker: Very good. Fish 2-5 feet of water using crickets and red worms.
Catfish: Very good. Fish on the bottom using cut bait or worms, and try fishing at night.

Lake Wateree:

Largemouth Bass: Tough. Some schooling action is beginning to be reported and spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and plastic worms are all producing off and on - people are throwing everything and have yet to find a pattern that is consistently working.
Crappie: Fair. Trolling with jigs and minnows is most effective, and the June Creek area has been productive.
Catfish: Very good. Target big blue cats using cut bait fished on the edges of holes. Fish are being caught on stinkbaits, worms, cut bait, and live bait fished on the bottom.
Bream: Very good. Fish 1 to 5 feet of water using worms and crickets.

Lake Murray:

Striped Bass: Good. Best action is coming fishing down rods with live bait in 30 to 60 feet of water. Cut bait is also working well in the middle of the day, and early and late look for schooling fish chasing bait up to the surface.
Largemouth Bass: Fair. Early morning topwater with pencil poppers, Zara Spooks, and buzzbaits may be productive. Later in the day switch to shaky head worms in watermelon candy and green pumpkinseed colors fished in 2 to 15 feet of water.
Crappie: Poor. Check deep brushpiles.
Shellcracker and bream: Good. Fish red worms and baby nightcrawlers around the banks and a few feet off.
Catfish: Good. Cut herring and nightcrawlers are producing over most of the lake.

Santee Cooper System
Lake Marion:

Largemouth Bass: Fair. Fish Texas rigged worms in slightly deeper areas.
Catfish: Good. Towards the dam catfish are staying deep during the day but being caught shallow at night.
Crappie: Slow. Crappie are likely making their way towards deep water haunts for the summer.
Bream and Shellcracker: Very good. Fish shallow water along the banks near Rimini Swamp, Santee Park, Stump Hole.

Lake Moultrie:

Largemouth Bass: Fair. Try deep Carolina or Texas rigging.
Catfish: Good. At night large flatheads and blues are both being caught in shallow water. Drifting is productive, as well as anchoring and fishing cut bait on the bottom when the lake is too calm to drift. Best catches are coming using cut mullet and herring.
Crappie: Fair. Look for structure in 20 to 25 feet of water and fish minnows vertically.
Shellcracker: Very good. Fish are being caught around cypress trees, especially where they meet lilies. Fish worms shallow.

South Carolina Rivers

Chattooga River

Trout: Good.
Fly Fishing report: The area from Pig Pen Creek up to the North Carolina border should still hold trout, though, and dry flies like the Light Henderson, Light Cayhill, Addams, and lighter caddis flies tied out of elkhair should produce.

Saluda River

Striped Bass: Slow to fair. Throw large plugs, topwater poppers, or fish live shad or herring under corks or on the bottom. For now target the area closer to the dam.
Trout: Fair. Fly fishermen should cast Wooly Buggers or similar flies; several hatches have already taken place.

Santee Diversion Canal

Bream and Shellcracker: Very good. Fish are being caught throughout the canal.
Catfish: Very good. Flathead catfish are being caught in the canal at night. Anchor or slowly drift cut bait.
Bass: Good. Largemouth are stacked in the canal around drops where the water goes from shallow to 15 feet almost vertically.

Savannah River

Striped/ Hybrid Bass: Hit or miss. When the correct gates are open on the Lake Thurmond Dam action can be fast, but at other times fish are not feeding.

CENTRAL
Arcadia: June 3. Largemouth bass slow. Channel catfish good on cut bait and liver at rocky points. Crappie good on minnows and jigs at the heated fishing dock. Report submitted by Mark Murray, game warden stationed in Oklahoma County.

Arcadia: May 29. Elevation 1/2 ft. above normal, water semi-muddy. Largemouth bass fair to good on worms in shallows and north points in the mornings. Channel catfish good to excellent on shad and shrimp at 5-10 ft. around north points in mornings and evenings. Crappie excellent on jigs and minnows at 5 ft. around north docks in the mornings. Thunderbird: June 2. Elevation 1 1/3 ft. above normal and murky. Saugeye good on jigs, sassy shad and medium-diving crankbaits off windy points early and late day. Crappie slowing down now to fair on minnows on structure at 3-6 ft. White bass good on jigs, minnows and medium-diving crankbaits trolling or casting off points and humps. All else slow. Eucha: June 2. Elevation slightly above normal. Water 78 and murky. Bluegill excellent on crickets and worms. Catfish fair on juglines using cut shad. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows at 6-8 ft. Ft. Gibson: June 2. Elevation 5 1/2 ft. above normal and rising. Water 73 and murky. Large mouth bass fair to good on spinnerbaits and jerk baits in flooded brush and grass. White bass good on rattletraps, spinnerbaits, and rooster tails trolling. Catfish good on cut chicken livers in the mud flats, off rocky points and around bridges and along riprap on shrimp. Grand: Grand-upper end: April 29. Elevation above normal and dropping, water 64 and clearing. Largemouth bass good on dark colored plastic worms shallow along shorelines. White bass and crappie fair to good on minnows, spinnerbaits and jigs with power baits in Elk River. Channel, blue and flathead catfish good on brooders, shad and stinkbaits at 30-40 ft. Grand: May 27. Elevation normal, water 70-76 and murky from Horse Creek to above Sailboat Bridge and stained from Horse Creek to the dam. Bass good on crankbaits, Carolina rigs, jigs, topwaters baits and spinnerbaits off main lake and secondary points. Crappie slow with some being caught around brush piles and docks. Catfish being caught on jug mid-lake and Horse creek area on shad and gold fish. White bass are being caught in Horse Creek on jigging spoons at 12-25 ft. Greenleaf: June 3. Elevation normal, water clear. Largemouth bass good on plastic worms in grass beds. Catfish good on stinkbaits and cut baits on bottom. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around fishing dock and brush. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

Hudson: June 2. Elevation 1 ft. above normal, water 72. White bass good on minnows and twister grubs in the upper end. Channel catfish good on cut shad and worms. Kaw: June 3. Elevation 4 ft. above normal and rising, Water muddy. Channel and blue catfish good on rod and reel, juglines and trolling with shad, stinkbait, worms from Coon Creek north to the state line in the Arkansas River. Report submitted by Tracy Daniel, game warden stationed in Kay County.

Keystone: May 20. Elevation 7 1/2 ft. above normal, water muddy. Largemouth bass good on spinnerbaits and dark colored plastics at 4-8 ft. in flooded cover in coves. Smallmouth bass slow on chartreuse crankbaits, dark jigs and chunkbaits at 8-12 ft. around points. Spotted bass fair on small chrome crankbaits at 6-10 ft. around bluffs and deep coves. White bass fair on minnows and jigs at 4-8 ft. below the dam and mouths of creeks. Striped bass fair on buck tails, sassy shad and rattle baits at 3-6 ft. below the dam. Channel catfish good on chicken livers and worms at 4-8 ft. in creeks and coves. Blue catfish good on punch baits and cut shad at 5-10 ft. halfway back in coves. Flathead catfish good on punch baits and cut shad at 6-12 ft. around bluffs, riprap and below the dam. Oologah: June 2. Elevation 10 ft. above normal, water 70 and muddy. Crappie fair on minnows along the Winganon Bridge at 5-8 ft. White bass fair trolling shad colored crankbaits at10-15 ft. Channel catfish fair on worms and dough baits around flooded willows and in flooded fields. White bass and crappie also fair on jigs below the dam. NORTHWEST
Canton: June 2. Elevation normal. Channel catfish good along dam on live bait and stink bait. Walleye good in upper end of lake trolling shallow running crankbaits. White bass and striped bass hybrids good near submerged islands on slabs and live sunfish. Crappie fair in shallows on minnows and jigs. Ft. Supply: June 3. Elevation normal, water clear. Crappie good on jigs and minnows along the jetties in the shallows. Report submitted by Mark Reichenberger, game warden stationed in Harper County.

Great Salt Plains: High temperatures and prolonged drought during the summer of 2006 resulted in a significant fish kill. 2008 Update - Fisheries personnel has stocked catfish into the lake. The catfish should grow to catchable size by this summer or next, if water levels are favorable. The Wildlife Department is going to monitor fish populations in the lake very closely over the next few years and make management decisions to ensure this fishery is as healthy as it can be. This report will be updated as conditions change.
SOUTHEAST
Arbuckle: June 2. Elevation normal, water 77-79 and stained. Crappie good on brush piles at 18-24 ft. White bass are off most points at 5-18 ft. Bass fair to good off points on topwaters early, Texas rigged blue fleck worms, spinnerbaits good up on banks. Report submitted by Jack Melton.

Blue River: June 3. Elevation normal, water 80 and murky. Largemouth bass fair on minnows and flies. Catfish fair on stinkbaits, worms and liver. Report submitted by Charles Baker, technician at the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area.

Broken Bow: June 2. Water clear. Largemouth and smallmouth bass good on soft plastics at 4-5 ft. Catfish being caught on juglines and trotlines with cut bait and shad. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around structure at the upper end and mouth of creeks. Walleye slowing but still being caught on fire tiger crankbaits and soft plastics around points and rocky ledges. Report submitted by Dru Polk, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.

Eufaula: June 2. Elevation 2 ft. above normal and murky, Largemouth bass fair on plastic flipping flooded brush. White bass good on jigs along riprap under bridges. Hugo: June 2. Elevation normal, water 72. Crappie and bass good on minnows and small spinnerbaits around brush. Catfish fair on cut bait and sunfish. Fishing in the tailwater good. Report submitted by Jay Harvey, game warden stationed in Choctaw and Bryan counties.

Konawa: June 2. Elevation normal, water 79 and clear. Largemouth bass excellent on plastic worms at 3-6 ft. in weed beds. Channel catfish good on shad and stinkbaits at 5-8 ft. in coves. All other fishing slow. Report submitted by Daryl Howser, game warden stationed in Seminole County.

Lower Mountain Fork River: June 2. Fishing good in all three zones on small midge patterns, various nymphs, wooly buggers, and several brightly colored streamers. Not much action on dry flies yet, but I would surely try an ant pattern when the weather is breezy. Report submitted by Beavers Bend Fly Shop.

McGee Creek: June 2. Elevation 2 ft. above normal, water 74 and clear. Largemouth bass fair to good on plastic craws and crawfish colored crankbaits at 4-5 ft. right against the bank. Crappie fair on minnows at 12-18 ft. over cedar brush. Report submitted by Larry Luman, game warden stationed in Atoka County.

Murray: June 2. Elevation normal, water 80 and clear. Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass good. White bass being caught on minnows, jigs and crankbaits trolling early and late. Channel catfish good on stinkbaits, minnows, liver and shrimp. Walleye good on minnows and jigs. Report submitted by Jeremy Brothers, game warden stationed in Carter County.

Pine Creek: June 2. Elevation normal and murky. Bass good on soft plastics when jigged around flooded timber at 4-8 ft. Crappie good on jigs and minnows. Channel catfish good on night crawlers around the lake as well as the spillway. Anglers are also catching flathead catfish on minnows at the spillway. Robert S. Kerr: June 2. Elevation normal, water 76 and murky. Largemouth bass good at 2-6 ft. using plastic baits and spinnerbaits fishing the weed, rock and woody shorelines. Crappie fair at 5-8 ft. using minnows fishing the deeper water just off the spawning areas. White bass fair at 6-8 ft trolling crankbaits and jigs fishing in the Applegate Cove and Short Mountain areas. Sardis Lake: June 2. Elevation 1 ft. above normal and slightly murky. Bass good on spinners, off points in plastics and in grass beds on spinners. White bass fair trolling islands. Catfish excellent on shrimp and cut shad on jugs and trotlines. Flathead catfish fair on jugs baited with live bait. Crappie excellent on live minnows at 10 ft. from the bottom under briddges and around timber on jigs. Walleye fair on plugs trolling the islands. Texoma: June 2. Elevation normal, water 74 and mostly clear. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fair to good on live bait and spinnerbaits in the coves. Striped and white bass fair to good on live bait and sassy shad from the Hwy 70 bridge south. Channel and blue catfish fair to good on worms, live bait and cut baits from the hwy 70 bridge north. Crappie fair to good on minnows and jigs around the fish attractors and fishing docks. Sunfish good on worms around the fishing docks. SOUTHWEST
Altus-Lugert: May 26. Elevation 2 ft. below normal and steady. Crappie good to very good. Walleye good to very good though they tend to be small. Striped bass hybrids good but also many are small. Ft. Gibson: May 25. Elevation 1 ft. above normal, water 72 and murky. Largemouth bass good on spinnerbaits and salt crawls in flooding trees and grass. White bass good trolling rat-l-traps in open flats and bridges with structure above the dam; good to excellent on minnows and jigs below the dam. Catfish good on cut baits, worms and chicken livers along mud flats and rocky outcrops. Crappie fair on minnows suspended at 10 ft. above the dam; good on minnows below the dam.
